Description

Gyumri is a city that feels completely different from Yerevan. Historic houses built from black tuff, narrow streets in the old center, workshops, museums, unusual monuments and the city’s famous sense of humor give Gyumri a character all its own.

During the tour, we will walk through old Gyumri, discover its distinctive architecture and complex history, visit some of the city’s most interesting museums and hear stories about the people who helped shape its character. And no introduction to Gyumri would be complete without its local cuisine — lunch is an important part of the journey too.

A Gyumri Tour is an opportunity to leave the grand avenues of Yerevan behind for a day and discover a very different Armenia — slightly old-fashioned, full of character, stories and a very particular sense of humor.

Program

Yerevan – Gyumri – Yerevan

  • Morning departure from Yerevan to Gyumri.
  • Arrival in Gyumri and a walking tour through the historic center.
  • Explore the old streets and squares of the city, with their characteristic black tuff architecture, historic houses and distinctive urban atmosphere.
  • Visit one of Gyumri’s museums and learn more about the city’s history, culture and the people connected with it.
  • Continue exploring the old quarters, monuments and some of the city’s more unusual corners.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant, with an introduction to the cuisine and culinary traditions of Gyumri.
  • Free time for a short walk through the city center.
  • Return to Yerevan.
