Description

Two days among green mountains, deep gorges and medieval monasteries is an ideal way to discover Lori. This is a very different side of Armenia, where the road follows the Debed River, small villages are scattered across the mountain slopes and ancient monasteries seem to become part of the surrounding landscape.

The journey includes the famous monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat, as well as the remarkable medieval frescoes of Akhtala, followed by an overnight stay in Haghpat. The next day continues to the Zarni-Parni Cave Complex, the villages of Odzun and Ardvi, and finally Dsegh — the birthplace of Hovhannes Tumanyan, where the house-museum of the great Armenian poet is located.

The 2-Day Lori Tour is a relaxed journey through northern Armenia, where history, nature and small mountain villages create the atmosphere that makes Lori worth exploring without rushing.

Program

Day 1: Sanahin – Akhtala – Haghpat

  • Morning departure from Yerevan towards northern Armenia and the Lori region.
  • Visit to Sanahin Monastery, one of Armenia’s most important medieval monastic complexes.
  • Lunch, depending on the selected rate.
  • Continue to Akhtala Monastery, particularly known for its remarkable medieval frescoes.
  • Departure to the village of Haghpat, surrounded by the mountains and landscapes of the Debed Gorge.
  • Hotel accommodation in Haghpat.
  • Free time and dinner.
  • Overnight in Haghpat.

Day 2: Haghpat – Odzun – Ardvi – Dsegh – Yerevan

  • Visit to Haghpat Monastery, the famous medieval monastic complex overlooking the Debed Gorge.
  • Continue to the Zarni-Parni Cave Complex, located high above the gorge.
  • Lunch, depending on the selected rate.
  • Departure to Odzun, followed by the nearby village of Ardvi, known for its historic monuments and khachkars.
  • Continue to Dsegh, the birthplace of Armenian poet and writer Hovhannes Tumanyan.
  • Visit to the Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum.
  • Return to Yerevan in the evening.
