Description

Five days is a perfect introduction to Armenia’s wine culture. Even on a relatively short journey, it is possible to explore several wine-producing areas, visit both modern wineries and small family producers, and taste wines made from indigenous Armenian grape varieties.

Our Wine Tour in Armenia brings together Aragatsotn and Vayots Dzor — two very different wine regions of the country. Along the way, we will meet winemakers, visit wineries, taste Armenian wines and pair them with local cuisine and regional products.

Depending on the selected rate, the tour includes visits to four or six wineries. The wine experience is complemented by artisan cheese, local lunches, Yerevan and several of Armenia’s most interesting historical and natural sites.

Wine Tour in Armenia – 5 Days is a compact journey for travelers who want to discover the country’s modern wine culture, its terroirs, indigenous grape varieties and the people behind Armenian wine.

For private and corporate groups, we can also create a tailor-made wine program, including selected wineries, private tastings, gastronomic dinners, meetings with winemakers and other special experiences.

Program

Day 1: Yerevan

  • Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport.
  • Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
  • Hotel accommodation.
  • Sightseeing tour of Yerevan.
  • In the evening, welcome dinner with Armenian wine at a wine restaurant in Yerevan.
  • Free time.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2: Saghmosavank – Amberd

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure towards Mount Aragats and the Aragatsotn wine region.
  • Visit to Saghmosavank Monastery, overlooking the Kasagh Gorge.
  • Continue to Amberd Fortress on the slopes of Mount Aragats and, weather and road conditions permitting, to Lake Kari at around 3,200 m above sea level.
  • After exploring Aragatsotn, continue to the first winery of the journey.
  • Visit to Armenia Wine for a winery tour, wine tasting and lunch.
  • Depending on the selected rate, continue to a second winery — Van Ardi or Voskevaz — for another tasting.
  • Return to Yerevan in the evening.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure to the Vayots Dzor wine region.
  • Visit to Khor Virap Monastery, with impressive views of Mount Ararat on clear days.
  • Continue to Noravank Monastery, surrounded by the red cliffs of Vayots Dzor.
  • Visit to Areni-1 Cave, an important archaeological site with evidence of early winemaking.
  • Continue to the village of Areni, one of the centers of Armenia’s wine culture.
  • Visit to Old Bridge Winery for a winery tour, wine tasting and lunch.
  • Depending on the selected rate, continue to Trinity Canyon Vineyards for another wine tasting.
  • Return to Yerevan.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.
  • Return to Yerevan

Day 4: Sevan – Dilijan

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure towards Lake Sevan.
  • Visit to Manukyan Winery for a winery tour and wine tasting.
  • Continue to Dilijan, with a walk through the historic part of the town and a visit to Haghartsin Monastery.
  • Lunch at a local guesthouse.
  • Continue to the Gavar area to visit a local family producing artisan Armenian cheeses.
  • Cheese tasting accompanied by Armenian wine.
  • Return to Yerevan.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 5: Echmiadzin – Zvartnots

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure to Echmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
  • Visit to the Mother Cathedral of Echmiadzin and the churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane.
  • Continue to the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral.
  • Visit to Alluria Winery for the final winery experience and wine tasting of the journey.
  • Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport according to the flight schedule.
  • Departure.
