One of the most mysterious and beautiful regions of Armenia. Soaring, beautiful mountains, dense forests, ancient temples and fortresses, the Araks River, and the Armenian-Iranian border await us during these four fascinating days. The towns of Sisian, Goris, Kapan-Meghri, and Agarak, each unique and inimitable, will leave you with a multitude of unforgettable impressions. Tatev Monastery at dawn, Vahanavank Monastery surrounded by dense forest, His Majesty Mount Khustup, and many other natural and architectural landmarks will immerse you in the ancient history of Armenia and make you escape the bustle of the city.
Program
Day 1: Noravank – Areni – Goris
- Departure to one of Armenia’s most beautiful monasteries, Noravank, surrounded by sheer red cliffs.
- After exploring Noravank and its surroundings, we’ll head to the village of Areni, which could be called the winemaking center of Armenia.
- We’ll tour a wonderful winery, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch and a tasting of one of Armenia’s finest wines.
- After lunch, we’ll visit a cave where ancient wine jugs and shoes dating back 6,000 years were recently discovered.
- Next, we’ll head to Goris, one of Armenia’s greenest cities.
- We’ll stroll through this beautiful city.
- Overnight in Goris.
Day 2: Khndzoresk – Tatev – Kapan
- After a delicious breakfast, we’ll head to the ancient village of Khndzoresk. We’ll cross a suspension bridge over the gorge and explore ancient caves where people lived 100 years ago.
- Our journey will then lead us to what is undoubtedly the most magical place in Armenia – the village of Tatev.
- Our route will take us along the world’s longest cable car, stretching over the Vorotan Gorge. The cable car’s maximum elevation is 320 meters.
- In Tatev, we’ll have a tour of Tatev Monastery and meet its abbot, Father Mikael. A delicious lunch awaits us.
- We’ll arrive in the city of Kapan in the evening.
- Overnight in Kapan.
Day 3: Kapan – Meghri – Kapan
- Breakfast
- We’ll then head to the southernmost and warmest city in Armenia, Meghri. We’ll stroll through this beautiful city and visit the Armenian-Iranian border, which offers a stunning view of the Araks River.
- Lunch
- We’ll also take a jeep tour to the Lichka Waterfalls and Lake Tsakkar.
- Return to Kapan.
Day 4: Kapan – Vahanavank – Baghaberd – Yerevan
- Breakfast
- We’ll take a short stroll through Kapan and see the city’s symbol, Mount Khustup.
- We’ll then head to the beautiful Vahanavank monastery complex, surrounded by a beautiful, dense forest.
- We’ll also explore the ancient Baghaberd fortress and other beautiful sights in the Kapan area.
- Lunch
- On the way to Yerevan, we’ll also do some sightseeing. A stop at one of Armenia’s most beautiful waterfalls, Shake Waterfall.
- We’ll return to Yerevan in the evening
