Armenia & Georgia Tour – 10 Days

Program

Day 1: Yerevan

• Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport, meeting with the guide and transfer to the hotel.
• After check-in, sightseeing tour of Yerevan — Republic Square, the city center, Cascade and panoramic viewpoints over the capital.
• In the evening, welcome dinner at an Armenian restaurant, with local cuisine and Armenian wine.
• Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni – Karahunj – Goris

• After breakfast, departure from Yerevan towards Khor Virap Monastery, one of Armenia’s most important pilgrimage sites. Closely associated with Gregory the Illuminator and the adoption of Christianity in Armenia, the monastery also offers a spectacular view of Mount Ararat on clear days.
• Continue through Vayots Dzor to Noravank Monastery, dramatically surrounded by red cliffs at the end of a narrow gorge.
• Visit Areni-1 Cave, an important archaeological site where evidence of some of the world’s earliest known winemaking was discovered.
• Depending on the selected rate, visit a local winery for wine tasting and lunch.
• Continue south towards Goris, with a stop at Karahunj (Zorats Karer), one of Armenia’s most intriguing prehistoric archaeological sites.
• Arrival in Goris in the evening.
• Overnight in Goris.

Day 3: Khndzoresk – Tatev – Shaki Waterfall – Yerevan

• After breakfast, departure for Old Khndzoresk, famous for its historic cave settlement and dramatic gorge.
• Walk across the suspension bridge and explore the unusual landscape where caves were used as homes until the 20th century.
• Continue to Tatev, travelling across the Vorotan Gorge on the famous Wings of Tatev cable car.
• Visit Tatev Monastery, spectacularly located on the edge of the gorge and for centuries one of the most important spiritual and educational centers of medieval Armenia.
• Lunch in the region, followed by the journey back towards Yerevan.
• On the way, stop at Shaki Waterfall, one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Armenia.
• Arrival in Yerevan in the evening.
• Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 4: Garni – Geghard – Sevan – Dilijan

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Garni Temple, standing above the Azat Gorge, followed by a walk to the basalt formations of the Symphony of Stones.
• Continue to Geghard Monastery, partly carved into the surrounding rock.
• Traditional lavash-making experience, with an opportunity to see how Armenian lavash is baked in a tonir.
• In the afternoon, travel to Lake Sevan, visit Sevanavank Monastery and enjoy the panoramic views over the lake.
• Continue through the mountains and forests to Dilijan.
• Overnight in Dilijan.

Day 5: Dilijan – Haghartsin – Sanahin – Haghpat

• Breakfast.
• Morning walk through Dilijan, followed by a drive through the forests of Dilijan National Park to Haghartsin Monastery.
• Continue north towards Lori, where forested mountains give way to the dramatic landscapes of the Debed Gorge.
• Visit to the medieval monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat, surrounded by the mountains of northern Armenia.
• Overnight in Haghpat.

Day 6: Haghpat – Tbilisi

• Breakfast.
• Departure towards the Armenia–Georgia border and continuation to Tbilisi after border formalities.
• Arrival and hotel accommodation.
• Sightseeing tour of Tbilisi, exploring the old city, traditional balconies, historic streets and some of the Georgian capital’s best-known landmarks.
• In the evening, welcome dinner at a Georgian restaurant with traditional cuisine and local wine.
• Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 7: trip to Kakheti – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Kvareli

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Kakheti, Georgia’s main wine-producing region.
• On the way to Kvareli, visit Bodbe Monastery, associated with St. Nino, followed by Sighnaghi, with its old streets, fortress walls and panoramic views over the Alazani Valley and Caucasus Mountains.
• Continue to Kvareli, located in the Kindzmarauli wine-producing area.
• Visit to a local winery and wine cellars, followed by lunch and a tasting of Georgian wines, chacha and brandy.
• Overnight in Kakheti

Day 8: Trip to Kazbegi: Ananuri – Gudauri – Kazbegi

• Breakfast.
• The day begins in Telavi, the historic center of Kakheti.
• Continue across the Gombori Pass and further towards the Greater Caucasus.
• Visit to Ananuri Fortress and the Zhinvali Reservoir, followed by the mountain road through Gudauri.
• Along the way, stop to see the meeting point of the Black and White Aragvi rivers.
• Lunch with traditional Pasanauri khinkali.
• Continue into the mountains to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).
• Overnight in Stepantsminda.

Day 9: Return to Tbilisi

• Breakfast.
• The morning begins with a visit to Gergeti Trinity Church, standing at around 2,170 m above Stepantsminda beneath the peaks of the Greater Caucasus.
• The mountain journey continues to Dariali Gorge and the landscapes of Truso Gorge, including the area around Lake Abano.
• After exploring the Kazbegi region, return to Tbilisi.
• Free time in the evening.
• Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 10: Jvari – Mtskheta – Tbilisi

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Jvari Monastery, with panoramic views over Mtskheta and the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
• Continue to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital, and visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
• After lunch, return to Tbilisi for a final walk through the city — Shota Rustaveli Avenue, the funicular and Mtatsminda, followed by time at the flea market and central market for Georgian spices.
• Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.
