Armenia & Georgia Tour – 8 Days

Program

Day 1: Yerevan

• Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport.
• Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
• Hotel accommodation.
• Sightseeing tour of Yerevan.
• Welcome dinner at an Armenian restaurant.
• Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Departure through the Ararat Valley to Khor Virap Monastery, one of the best viewpoints of Mount Ararat on clear days.
• Continue through the vineyards and dramatic landscapes of Vayots Dzor to Noravank Monastery, surrounded by red cliffs.
• Visit to Areni-1 Cave, an important archaeological site connected with early winemaking.
• Visit to a local winery for a tour, wine tasting and lunch.
• Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3: Garni – Geghard – Sevan – Dilijan

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Garni Temple, standing above the Azat Gorge, followed by a walk to the impressive basalt formations of the Symphony of Stones.
• Continue to Geghard Monastery, partly carved into the surrounding rock.
• Traditional lavash-making experience, with an opportunity to see how Armenia’s famous bread is baked in a tonir.
• In the afternoon, departure to Lake Sevan and visit to Sevanavank Monastery, with panoramic views over the lake.
• Continue through the mountains and forests to Dilijan.
• Overnight in Dilijan.

Day 4: Dilijan – Haghartsin – Sanahin – Haghpat

• Breakfast.
• Morning walk through Dilijan, followed by a drive through the forests of Dilijan National Park to Haghartsin Monastery.
• Continue north to Lori, where the landscape changes to deep gorges, green mountains and small villages.
• Visit to the medieval monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Debed Gorge.
• Overnight in Haghpat.

Day 5: Haghpat – Tbilisi

• Breakfast.
• Departure towards the Armenia–Georgia border and continuation to Tbilisi after border formalities.
• Arrival, hotel accommodation and sightseeing tour of Tbilisi, exploring the old city, traditional balconies, historic streets and some of the Georgian capital’s best-known landmarks.
• In the evening, welcome dinner at a Georgian restaurant with traditional cuisine and local wine.
• Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 6: Trip to Kazbegi: Ananuri – Gudauri – Kazbegi

• Breakfast.
• Departure along the spectacular Georgian Military Highway into the Greater Caucasus.
• Stop at the Zhinvali Reservoir and visit Ananuri Fortress, followed by the mountain road through Gudauri towards Stepantsminda.
• Visit to Gergeti Trinity Church, standing high above the valley with impressive views of the Caucasus Mountains.
• On the return journey, lunch in Pasanauri with traditional Georgian khinkali.
• Return to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 7: trip to Kakheti: Sighnaghi – Kvareli – Nekresi – Telavi

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Kakheti, Georgia’s main wine-producing region, with vineyards stretching across the Alazani Valley beneath the Caucasus Mountains.
• Visit to Bodbe Monastery and the historic town of Sighnaghi, followed by a walk through its old streets and viewpoints over the valley.
• Continue to Kvareli for a winery visit, an introduction to traditional Georgian winemaking and wine tasting.
• Lunch with Georgian cuisine and local wine.
• On the way back, visit Nekresi Monastery and Telavi.
• Return to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 8: Jvari – Mtskheta – Tbilisi

• Breakfast.
• Departure to Jvari Monastery, with panoramic views over Mtskheta and the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
• Continue to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, for a walk through the historic center and a visit to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
• Return to Tbilisi for lunch and, depending on the flight schedule, some final time in the city and a visit to Mtatsminda.
• Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.
• Departure.
