Description
Celebrating New Year in Armenia means spending the winter holidays among snow-covered mountains, ancient monasteries, the festive streets of Yerevan and a traditional Armenian feast. Over eight days, this journey reveals very different sides of Armenia in winter — from the ski resort of Tsaghkadzor and Lake Sevan to the wineries of Vayots Dzor and the distinctive atmosphere of Gyumri.
The journey begins in New Year Yerevan, followed by Garni and Geghard, winter Tsaghkadzor, Lake Sevan, Dilijan and Haghartsin Monastery. A separate day is dedicated to Gyumri, with its historic architecture, local cuisine and famous sense of humor.
The journey then continues south to Khor Virap and Noravank, with a visit to Areni-1 Cave and one of the wineries of Vayots Dzor for wine tasting and lunch. There will also be time to discover Yerevan itself — Matenadaran, Vernissage, Armenian brandy and traditional carpet weaving.
The New Year journey ends on 6 January in Echmiadzin, when the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Christmas and Epiphany — a fitting finale to a winter journey through Armenia.

Day 1: Yerevan
- Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport.
- Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Garni – Geghard – Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure to Garni Temple, Armenia’s best-known monument from the pre-Christian period.
- Continue to Geghard Monastery, partly carved into the surrounding rock.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Free time to enjoy the festive city center and New Year atmosphere.
- In the evening — New Year’s Eve celebration at a restaurant or another selected venue in Yerevan.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3: Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Free day in Yerevan after the New Year celebration.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 4: Tsaghkadzor – Sevan – Dilijan – Haghartsin
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure to the winter resort of Tsaghkadzor.
- Visit to Kecharis Monastery.
- Free time in Tsaghkadzor. A ride on the ski lift can be arranged for those who wish, subject to weather and operating conditions.
- Continue to Dilijan.
- Lunch.
- Walk through Dilijan and continue through the forested landscapes to Haghartsin Monastery.
- Departure to Lake Sevan and visit to Sevanavank Monastery.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5: Saghmosavank – Gyumri – Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure towards Gyumri.
- Stop at Saghmosavank Monastery, overlooking the Kasagh Gorge.
- Continue to the Armenian Alphabet Monument.
- Arrival in Gyumri.
- Walking tour through the historic center, with its distinctive architecture and atmosphere.
- Visit to one of Gyumri’s museums or cultural sites.
- Lunch.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure to Khor Virap Monastery, with views of Mount Ararat on clear days.
- Continue to Noravank Monastery, surrounded by the red cliffs of Vayots Dzor.
- Visit to Areni-1 Cave, an important archaeological site with evidence connected to early winemaking.
- Visit to a local winery for a winery tour, wine tasting and lunch.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Free evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 7: Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to Matenadaran, Armenia’s museum and repository of ancient manuscripts.
- Visit to the Ararat Brandy Company for a tour and tasting.
- Time at Vernissage, Yerevan’s open-air market for Armenian handicrafts, art, jewelry and traditional souvenirs.
- Visit to a traditional Armenian carpet workshop, with an introduction to Armenian carpet weaving.
- Lunch.
- Return to the hotel.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 8: Echmiadzin – Zvartnots
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure to Echmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
- Visit to the Mother Cathedral of Echmiadzin and participation in the Christmas celebrations on 6 January, according to the church schedule.
- Visit to the churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane.
- Continue to the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral.
- Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport.
- Departure.
