Description
Six days by 4×4 across Armenia — from the almost Martian landscapes of Mount Yeranos to the green mountains of Tavush and the high-altitude slopes of Mount Aragats. This tour is designed for travelers who want to discover not only Armenia’s famous landmarks, but also places that regular sightseeing buses simply cannot reach.
During the journey, we head into the mountains of Yeranos and Teghenis, follow the high-altitude roads of Mount Aragats towards Gegharot Waterfall, and then explore the mountains of Tavush on the way to Mount Dimats. Every day brings a completely different landscape — semi-desert terrain, alpine meadows, volcanic mountains, forests, waterfalls and real off-road driving.
At the same time, the journey also introduces the classic side of Armenia. The program includes Yerevan, Garni Temple, Geghard Monastery and the Symphony of Stones, while the Mount Dimats route also includes a visit to Haghartsin Monastery.
This 6-day Jeep Tour in Armenia combines a journey through the country with real mountain adventures, revealing a completely different landscape every day.
The itinerary may be adjusted depending on the season, weather and road conditions.
Program
Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan
- Arrival in Yerevan.
- Meeting at Zvartnots International Airport and transfer to the hotel.
- City tour of Yerevan, exploring the Armenian capital and its main sights.
- Welcome dinner.
- Free time.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 2: Jeep Tour to Mount Yeranos
- After breakfast, departure from Yerevan by 4×4 vehicle towards Mount Yeranos.
- The route gradually leaves the paved roads behind and continues through the unusual dry and rocky landscapes surrounding Yeranos.
- A day of off-road driving through the mountain terrain, with the characteristic reddish-brown slopes and almost Martian landscapes of this part of Armenia.
- Stops along the route to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Azat Gorge.
- Lunch during the tour.
- Return to Yerevan in the evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3 – Jeep Tour to Mount Teghenis
- After breakfast, departure by 4×4 vehicle towards Mount Teghenis.
- Continue along mountain roads and off-road tracks into the highlands.
- The landscapes here are completely different from Yeranos, with green alpine meadows, open mountain slopes and wide panoramic views.
- Lunch during the tour.
- Return to Yerevan in the evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 4: Jeep Tour to Gegharot Waterfall
- After breakfast, departure by 4×4 vehicle towards Mount Aragats, the highest mountain in modern-day Armenia.
- Continue into the highlands along mountain and off-road routes through the volcanic landscapes of Aragats.
- The main destination of the day is Gegharot Waterfall, hidden high on the slopes of Mount Aragats and fed by melting mountain snow.
- Time to explore the area, relax and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery.
- Lunch during the tour.
- Return to Yerevan in the evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5: Jeep Tour to Mount Dimats
- After breakfast, departure by 4×4 vehicle towards Tavush, one of Armenia’s greenest regions.
- On request, a short stop can be made at Lake Sevan, with the possibility of a boat trip on the lake.
- Continue towards the mountains of Dilijan and follow off-road routes towards Mount Dimats.
- The route passes through alpine meadows and mountain landscapes, with wild horses often seen in the surrounding highlands.
- Arrival in the highlands of Mount Dimats, with panoramic views of the surrounding cliffs, forests and mountains.
- Picnic in the mountains.
- After the descent, visit Haghartsin Monastery, hidden among the forests of Dilijan National Park.
- Return to Yerevan in the evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: Geghard – Garni
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure to Geghard Monastery, a medieval monastic complex partly carved into the surrounding rock.
- Continue to Garni Temple, Armenia’s best-known surviving monument from the pre-Christian period.
- Descend into Garni Gorge to see the Symphony of Stones, an impressive natural formation of basalt columns.
- Farewell lunch.
- Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport for departure.
