Two days among the mountains and forests of Dilijan are a great way to leave the city behind and discover one of the greenest and most scenic parts of Armenia. This tour combines a forest hike through Dilijan National Park with an ascent of Mount Dimats, one of the most beautiful mountain routes in the region.

On the first day, the journey begins at Lake Parz, followed by a hike along forest trails through Dilijan National Park towards Lake Gosh and the village of Gosh. In the evening, return to Dilijan for an overnight stay.

The second day offers a completely different experience — an ascent of Mount Dimats. Alpine meadows, mountain landscapes, the open highlands of Tavush and the wild horses often seen in this area make it one of the most scenic hiking routes around Dilijan. After the descent, if time permits, the tour continues to Haghartsin Monastery, hidden among the forests of Dilijan National Park.

This 2-day hiking tour in Dilijan is a great choice for travelers looking for a short active getaway in Armenia, combining forest trekking, a mountain ascent and an overnight stay in Dilijan.

Program

Day 1: Yerevan – Dilijan National Park

  • Morning departure from Yerevan towards Dilijan National Park.
  • Arrival at Lake Parz, where the hiking route begins.
  • Hike through the forests of Dilijan National Park towards Lake Gosh, following quiet forest trails away from the main roads.
  • Stop at Lake Gosh for a rest and picnic lunch in nature.
  • Continue hiking towards the village of Gosh, where the hiking part of the day ends.
  • Transfer to Dilijan.
  • Overnight in Dilijan.

Day 2: Mount Dimats – Yerevan

  • After breakfast, departure towards the starting point of the Mount Dimats hiking route.
  • Ascent of Mount Dimats through mountain meadows and the open highlands of Tavush. Along the route, wild horses can often be seen grazing in the mountains.
  • At the top, time to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and valleys surrounding Dilijan and Ijevan.
  • Lunch in the mountains.
  • Descent from Mount Dimats.
  • If time permits, visit Haghartsin Monastery, located in the forests of Dilijan National Park.
  • Return to Yerevan in the evening.
