Description
A six-day school tour in Armenia combines history, culture, nature and interactive experiences in one exciting journey. The program introduces students not only to Yerevan and the country’s best-known landmarks, but also to southern Armenia, with its spectacular mountain landscapes, ancient settlements and monasteries.
The journey includes Yerevan, Garni Temple, Geghard Monastery, the Symphony of Stones, Khor Virap, Noravank, Areni, Goris, Khndzoresk, Tatev, Dilijan and Lake Sevan.
Along the way, students will discover different periods of Armenian history, explore archaeological sites and medieval monasteries, experience local traditions and cuisine, and take part in educational and creative activities.
Travel-Armenia can organize the complete trip for the group, including accommodation, transportation, professional guide services, meals, entrance tickets, museums and selected workshops.
The program can be adapted according to the students’ age, group size, season and educational interests.
Program
Day 1: Yerevan
- Arrival in Yerevan.
- Meeting at Zvartnots International Airport and transfer to the hotel.
- Hotel accommodation.
- Sightseeing tour of Yerevan — an introduction to Armenia’s capital, its history and main landmarks.
- Welcome dinner.
- Free time.
Day 2: Garni – Geghard
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure for Geghard Monastery, one of Armenia’s remarkable medieval monasteries, with part of the complex carved directly into the surrounding rock.
- Continue to Garni Temple, Armenia’s best-known surviving monument from the pre-Christian period.
- Walk through the Azat River Gorge to see the impressive basalt formations known as the Symphony of Stones.
- Lunch with a lavash-making experience, introducing students to the traditional Armenian way of baking bread in a tonir.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Evening walk through the city.
- Dinner.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni – Zorats Karer – Goris
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure for Khor Virap Monastery, closely associated with Gregory the Illuminator and Armenia’s adoption of Christianity. On a clear day, the monastery offers spectacular views of Mount Ararat.
- Continue through Vayots Dzor to Noravank Monastery, surrounded by dramatic red cliffs.
- Visit the village of Areni, one of Armenia’s best-known wine-producing areas.
- Lunch with local hosts.
- Visit Areni-1 Cave, an important archaeological site where evidence of very early winemaking and other ancient artefacts has been discovered.
- Continue south with a stop at the Zorats Karer archaeological site.
- Arrival in Goris in the evening.
- Hotel accommodation and overnight in Goris.
Day 4: Khndzoresk – Tatev – Shaki Waterfall – Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure for Old Khndzoresk, known for its historic cave settlement.
- Walk across the suspension bridge over the gorge and explore the area’s unusual landscape and history.
- Continue towards Tatev.
- Take the Wings of Tatev cable car across the spectacular Vorotan Gorge.
- Visit Tatev Monastery, one of Armenia’s most important medieval religious and educational centres.
- Lunch.
- On the way back to Yerevan, stop at Shaki Waterfall.
- Arrival in Yerevan in the evening.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5 – Dilijan – Haghartsin – Lake Sevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure for Dilijan, one of Armenia’s best-known mountain resort towns.
- Walk through the historic part of Dilijan.
- Continue through the forested landscapes of Dilijan National Park to Haghartsin Monastery.
- Drive to Lake Sevan, one of Armenia’s most famous natural landmarks.
- Visit Sevanavank Monastery on the Sevan Peninsula and enjoy panoramic views over the lake.
- Return to Yerevan.
- Free time.
- Dinner.
- Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: Yerevan
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit the History Museum of Armenia or the Matenadaran, the museum and research institute of ancient manuscripts.
- Depending on the students’ age and interests, the program can also include:
– a pottery workshop;
– a photo session in Armenian national costumes;
– an educational visit to the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies;
– another creative or educational activity.
- Lunch.
- Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport.
Educational & Interactive Activities
The sightseeing program can be complemented with activities selected according to the age and interests of the students.
These may include traditional crafts, pottery, Armenian cooking and lavash-making, technology and creative workshops, museums, interactive educational programs and photo sessions in traditional Armenian costumes.
The final selection of activities is agreed with the group organizers before the trip.

The six-day itinerary can be used as a ready-made program or adapted for a particular group. We can change the accommodation category, meals, museums and workshops, adjust the daily schedule or add additional educational and recreational activities.
When preparing the program, we take into account the students’ age, number of participants and accompanying adults, season, travel distances and the desired educational focus of the trip.
For groups wishing to explore Armenia in greater depth, the itinerary can also be extended with additional days and destinations.
