Description

An active school tour in Armenia combining adventure, nature, history and cultural experiences in one five-day journey.

This program is designed for school groups looking for more than a traditional sightseeing tour. Along with Armenia’s famous historical and cultural landmarks, students will spend time in the mountains, hike through a spectacular gorge and choose from outdoor activities such as zip-lining, horseback riding and a rope park.

The journey includes Yerevan, Tsaghkadzor, Dilijan, Haghartsin, Yenokavan, Lastiver, Lake Sevan, Geghard Monastery and Garni Temple, combining some of Armenia’s best-known destinations with active experiences in nature.

The program is recommended primarily for students aged 12 and over and can be adapted according to the group’s age, physical abilities and interests.

Travel-Armenia can arrange the complete trip, including accommodation, transportation, guide services, meals, entrance tickets and selected activities.

Program

Day 1: Yerevan

  • Arrival in Yerevan.
  • Meeting at Zvartnots International Airport.
  • Transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
  • Sightseeing tour of Yerevan — an introduction to Armenia’s capital, its history and main landmarks.
  • Welcome dinner.
  • Free time.

Day 2: Tsaghkadzor – Dilijan – Haghartsin – Yenokavan

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure for Tsaghkadzor, one of Armenia’s best-known mountain resorts.
  • Walk around the town and, weather permitting, a ride on the mountain cable car.
  • Continue to Dilijan, surrounded by the forests and mountains of northern Armenia.
  • Lunch.
  • Drive through the landscapes of Dilijan National Park to Haghartsin Monastery, a medieval monastery complex hidden among the forested mountains.
  • Continue to Yenokavan, one of Armenia’s leading destinations for outdoor and adventure activities.
  • Accommodation.
  • Dinner and rest.

Day 3: Yenokavan – Lastiver

  • Breakfast.
  • Outdoor activity of the group’s choice:
    – zip-line;
    – horseback riding;
    – rope park.
  • Afterwards, start a hiking route through the gorge towards Lastiver.
  • Walk through the forest to the Lastiver caves, mountain river and waterfalls.
  • Lunch in nature.
  • Time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
  • Hike back from the gorge.
  • Return to the accommodation.
  • Dinner and rest.

Day 4: Lake Sevan – Geghard – Garni

  • Breakfast.
  • Departure for Lake Sevan, one of Armenia’s most famous natural landmarks.
  • Visit Sevanavank Monastery and enjoy panoramic views over the lake.
  • Continue to Geghard Monastery, a remarkable medieval monastery complex partly carved into the surrounding rock.
  • Visit Garni Temple, Armenia’s best-known surviving monument from the pre-Christian period.
  • Walk through the Azat River Gorge to see the impressive basalt formations known as the Symphony of Stones.
  • Lunch with a traditional lavash-making experience.
  • Return to Yerevan.
  • Evening walk through the city.
  • Dinner.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

 

Day 5: Yerevan

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit the History Museum of Armenia or the Matenadaran, the museum and research institute of ancient manuscripts.
  • Depending on the students’ age and interests, the program can also include:
    – a pottery workshop;
    – a photo session in Armenian national costumes;
    – a visit to the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies;
    – another educational or creative activity.
  • Lunch.
  • Transfer to Zvartnots International Airport.

Adventure & Educational Activities

The program combines sightseeing with outdoor experiences, giving students an opportunity to discover Armenia in a more active and engaging way.

 

Depending on the season, age of the students and group’s preferences, the tour can include hiking, zip-lining, horseback riding, rope park activities, mountain cable cars, traditional crafts and educational workshops.

 

Activities are selected in advance together with the group organizers and can be adapted to the students’ age and physical abilities.

The five-day itinerary can be used as a ready-made program or adapted for a particular school group. The route, accommodation, activities, museums and workshops can all be adjusted according to the season, students’ age and interests.

 

When planning the tour, we take into account the number and age of participants, accompanying adults, physical activity level, travel distances and a comfortable pace for the group.
