Lori is one of Armenia’s greenest and most scenic regions, where ancient monasteries stand among forested mountains and the road follows the deep gorge of the Debed River. A day tour to Haghpat and Sanahin is an opportunity to discover a completely different side of Armenia and explore the history of its northern regions.

The journey includes two of Armenia’s most important medieval monasteries — Sanahin and Haghpat — together with the town of Alaverdi and the landscapes of the Debed Gorge. Another stop is the unusual Zarni-Parni Cave Complex, located high above the gorge, where lunch is served with panoramic views over Lori.

The Haghpat – Sanahin Tour is a day among the green mountains of Lori, medieval architecture, deep gorges and small villages — a journey that captures the distinctive atmosphere of northern Armenia.

Program

Sanahin – Haghpat – Yerevan

  • Morning departure from Yerevan towards the Lori region.
  • Drive through northern Armenia towards the Debed Gorge and Alaverdi.
  • Visit to Sanahin Monastery, one of Armenia’s most important medieval monastic complexes.
  • Continue to Haghpat Monastery, located on a plateau overlooking the Debed Gorge and the surrounding mountains.
  • Continue through Alaverdi and the landscapes of the Debed Gorge.
  • Visit to the Zarni-Parni Cave Complex, located above the gorge.
  • Lunch at Zarni-Parni, with panoramic views over the mountains and valleys of Lori, depending on the selected rate.
  • Return to Yerevan.
