Description

One day, three iconic destinations and completely different landscapes of Armenia. This tour combines the ancient history of Garni and Geghard, the unusual scenery of the Azat River Gorge and the vast waters of high-altitude Lake Sevan — an excellent introduction to the country.

The journey includes Geghard Monastery, partly carved into the surrounding rock, and the ancient Garni Temple. The route then descends into the gorge to the famous Symphony of Stones, followed by lunch and a traditional lavash-making experience, with an opportunity to take part in baking Armenian flatbread in a tonir.

The journey then continues to Lake Sevan, with a visit to Sevanavank Monastery and time for a walk along the lakeshore.

The Garni – Geghard – Sevan Tour brings together several completely different sides of Armenia in a single day — ancient monuments, mountain gorges and the open landscapes of Lake Sevan.

Program

Garni – Geghard – Sevan

  • Visit to Geghard Monastery, a medieval monastery surrounded by the mountains of the Azat Valley, with part of the complex carved directly into the rock.
  • Continue to Garni Temple, Armenia’s best-known surviving monument from the pre-Christian period.
  • Descend into the Azat River Gorge and walk to the Symphony of Stones, an impressive natural formation of basalt columns.
  • Lunch and lavash-making demonstration. Learn how traditional Armenian lavash is prepared and baked in a tonir, with an opportunity to take part in the process.
  • Departure to Lake Sevan, one of Armenia’s most recognizable natural landmarks.
  • Visit Sevanavank Monastery, located on a peninsula overlooking the lake.
  • Time for a short walk along the lakeshore.
  • Return to Yerevan.
