Description

Aragatsotn is one of Armenia’s main wine-producing regions, where vineyards spread across the foothills of Mount Aragats and modern wineries stand alongside ancient monasteries and medieval fortresses. This tour combines an introduction to Armenian wine with a journey through one of the country’s most scenic mountain regions.

The day begins at Saghmosavank Monastery, dramatically located above the deep Kasagh Gorge, before continuing up the slopes of Mount Aragats to the medieval Amberd Fortress. After the sightseeing part of the journey, the focus turns to wine, with visits to one or two wineries in Aragatsotn for an introduction to Armenian winemaking, wine tasting and lunch.

Depending on the selected program, the tour can include Armenia Wine, Voskevaz Winery or Van Ardi, as well as the Armenia Wine History Museum. The extended program includes two different wineries in one day, offering a broader introduction to the wines and winemaking styles of the region.

The Aragatsotn Wine Tour combines wine, local cuisine, history and mountain landscapes, revealing another side of Armenia’s modern wine culture.

The tour can also be arranged for corporate and MICE groups, with extended tastings, a gastronomic lunch, workshops or other winery activities added to the program.

Program

Saghmosavank – Amberd – Mount Aragats – Wineries

  • Morning departure from Yerevan towards the Aragatsotn region.
  • Visit to Saghmosavank Monastery, located on the edge of the spectacular Kasagh Gorge.
  • Continue towards Mount Aragats and visit the medieval Amberd Fortress, located high on the slopes of the mountain.
  • After the sightseeing part of the tour, continue to the first winery in Aragatsotn.
  • Winery tour, wine tasting and lunch.
  • Visit to the Armenia Wine History Museum, depending on the selected winery and program.
  • With the Standard Rate, continue to a second winery for another tour and wine tasting.
  • Return to Yerevan in the evening.
