The Geghama Mountains are one of those places in Armenia where the true scale of the country’s mountain landscapes can really be felt. Volcanic peaks, endless alpine meadows, high-altitude lakes and an almost complete absence of civilization create exceptional conditions for landscape photography.

Early in the morning, we leave Yerevan by 4×4 vehicles and travel into the Geghama Mountains, following mountain roads towards Lake Akna, situated at 3,032 m above sea level. There will be time to walk and photograph the surrounding high-altitude landscapes, followed by a picnic on the shore of the lake with panoramic views of the Geghama Range.

The Beauty of the Geghama Mountains Photo Tour is a full day away from cities and busy tourist routes, surrounded by silence, high mountains and the wild landscapes of Armenia.

Tour season: mid-June – late September.

We especially recommend the second half of June, when the Geghama Mountains are covered with fresh green grass and alpine flowers, while patches of snow may still remain on the higher slopes.

Program

Yerevan — Geghama Mountains — Yerevan

Early morning departure from Yerevan by 4×4 vehicle towards the Geghama Mountains.
Continue along mountain and off-road routes towards Lake Akna, situated at an altitude of 3,032 m.
Time for a walk and landscape photography around the lake, with views of the surrounding volcanic peaks, alpine meadows and high-altitude landscapes.
Picnic lunch by Lake Akna.
Additional photography stops along the route depending on the light, weather and landscape conditions.
Return to Yerevan in the evening.
