The Wings of Tatev cable car won the 28th World Travel Awards in the Best Cable Car in the World 2021 category, and Armenia won in the Leading Cultural Heritage Tourism Destination category.
Wings of Tatev is the longest reversible cable car in the world. You overcome the path of 5752 m in just 12 minutes, but to get to the Tatev Monastery you had to drive along the serpentine of the Vorotan Gorge for about 40 minutes. Since its opening in 2010, the cable car has served over a million visitors. And for more than 10 years, tourists have been enjoying the view of the gorge from a bird’s eye view. The maximum height above the gorge reaches 320 m.
This award will allow us to achieve new successes and continue our activities in the international tourism market, aimed at increasing the recognition of Armenia and Tatev. This achievement once again proved the fact that the Wings of Tatev cable car meets the highest international standards, and Tatev is one of the most important tourist destinations in the region.
The collaboration with the World Travel Awards was initiated by the charitable Tourism and Urban Foundation (TUF) in June this year. Within the framework of cooperation, an agreement was signed aimed at developing the potential of specialists in the field of tourism and tourism infrastructure in Armenia.
