Description
We invite you to have a tour to Western Armenia.
Route: Yerevan – Javakhk – Ani – Bayazet – Berkri Waterfall – Van – Akhtamar Island – Datvan – Sasun – Tigranakert – Mush – Khorasan – Sarighamish – Kars – Yerevan
During the 6 day trip we will enjoy the beauty of the local nature and will visit many historical monuments. We will visit Kars, Van, Bayazet, Datvan, Tigranakert, Mush, Sarigamish and historical regions, such as Javakhk, Vanand, Shirak, Yeraskh, Kogovit, Tosp, Taron and many others.
We will attend saint Liturgy in the church of St. Kirakos in Tigranakert, where Armenians from different countries will also gather.
We will visit the city of 1001 Ani churches, dip into the waters of Lake Van, light candles in the church of the Holy Cross (Surb Khach), located on the island of Akhtamar. We will see the glorious Bayazet and the beautiful Berkri waterfall.
Program
Day 1: Yerevan – Javakhk – Ani – Bayazet
We will leave Yerevan and drive to Javakhk, where we will admire the beauty of local nature. Then, we will drive to the ancient capital of Armenia, the city of 1001 churches – Ani. In the evening we will be back to Bayazet, where we will spend the night.
Day 2: Bayazet – Berkri – Van – Akhtmar – Datvan
After having breakfast, we will have an excursion through Bayazet. We’ll visit an ancient fortress. Then, we will stop near beautiful waterfall Berkri, after will drive to another ancient capital of Armenia, to the city of Van. In Van, we will visit the Van fortress, Mher’s door and take a boat ride to Akhtamar Island, where we will swim in the emerald waters of the Lake Van. Next, we will visit the Cathedral of the Holy Cross (Surb Khach). We’ll try the taste of Van Tarekh. We will spend the night in Datvan.
Day 3: Datvan – Bitlis – Tigranakert
We will take a tour to Datvan, then go to Bitlis and finally, we will arrive in Tigranakert, one of the 4 cities named after the Tigran the Great. Here we will attend the liturgy in the Church of St. Kirakos on the Day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary – Consecration of grapes, where Armenians from different countries will gather as well.
Day 4: Tigranakert – Mush
We will drive to Mush, one of the most ancient cities of historical Armenia
Day 5: Mush – Khorasan – Sarighamish – Kars
Leaving Mush and heading to Khorasan, then to Sarighamish and then to Kars. We will visit an Apostolic church, Kars fortress, Vardan bridge and ruins of Yeghishe Charents house. Will stay in Kars for the night.
Day 6: Kars – Yerevan
Returning back to Yerevan
