Dali and Picasso in Yerevan

The famous collection of the “Art of the Nations” foundation will arrive in Armenia. The founder of the foundation, philanthropist Alexander Shadrin, over the years of work was able to collect more than two hundred works by Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. This is one of the largest collections of Dali sculptures and the most outstanding collection of Picasso pottery in the world. The exact dates of the exhibition have recently become known, it will be in Yerevan from March 7 to April 26, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan said.

The Art of Nations Foundation was established to promote cultural exchange between different ethnic groups. The Foundation has a rich collection of artifacts and works of art from Russians, Spaniards, Chinese, Mongols, Japanese and Indians of pre-Columbian America and their collection is the fourth largest among private collections.

The exposition, which will be brought to Armenia, will include Dali’s works of the late 50s – late 70s. During this period, Dali created over 1600 graphic works, little known to the general public. The exhibition will also feature the most famous Dalinian scenes, including a melting clock, an elephant with thin legs, a woman with boxes, a giraffe on fire and others. Everything that the audience is accustomed to seeing on the canvases of the master, but in the form of lithographs, sculptures and drawings. In addition, at the exhibition, viewers will be able to see the ceramic works of Picasso, created in the 40-70s. Including the works that the master created before his death. Among the most famous are the famous lobster telephone and surreal flowers.

The authenticity of the works is not in doubt, since all the works were purchased from the personal collections of the authors and museums around the world. And the experts were specialists from the Dali and Picasso museums.

The co-organizers of the exhibition are the Moscow cultural and business center “House of Moscow” in Yerevan, the National Gallery of Armenia and the “Art of the Nations” foundation (Art of Nations) with the support of the Russian Embassy in Yerevan and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.
