Summer is one of the best seasons to travel around Armenia. Mountain landscapes, Lake Sevan, ancient monasteries, wineries, Yerevan and countless outdoor activities make it easy to create a varied and exciting itinerary. However, July and August can get particularly hot in Yerevan, and after several days of sightseeing, spending a day by the water can be exactly what you need.
A water park is an especially good addition to a family holiday in Armenia. Children get a break from long drives and historical attractions, while parents can relax and enjoy a slower day between excursions.
Armenia does not have a huge number of large-scale water parks, so we have deliberately excluded regular outdoor swimming pools and summer pool clubs from this guide. They deserve a separate list of their own.
Here are some of the best water parks in Armenia to consider for a summer trip.
📍 Yerevan, 40 Myasnikyan Avenue
Water World, also known locally as Jrashkhar, is the best-known outdoor water park in Armenia and one of Yerevan’s most popular places to escape the summer heat.
Opened in 2001, the water park covers an area of approximately 2.5 hectares. It features two large swimming pools, a separate children’s pool, a VIP pool and three pools with water slides. There are also food outlets and a restaurant within the complex.
Water World is a good choice if you want to dedicate an entire day to swimming and water activities. Visitors can alternate between the slides, pools and relaxation areas without leaving the city.
Its location is another major advantage. If you are staying in Yerevan for several days, you can easily add Water World to your itinerary without having to organize a separate trip outside the capital.
For families travelling with children, it can be a welcome change of pace after several days of exploring Armenia’s monasteries, museums and historical attractions.
Best for: families with children, teenagers and groups of friends.
Main advantage: a full-scale outdoor water park within Yerevan.
Best time to visit: June to early September.

📍 Sevan, Gegharkunik Province
Harsnaqar Hotel Complex & Water World offers perhaps the most unusual setting of all the water parks on our list: it is located directly on the shores of Lake Sevan.
This makes it possible to combine several summer experiences in a single day — water attractions, swimming pools, a beach and a trip to Armenia’s largest lake.
The location is what makes Harsnaqar particularly interesting for international visitors. You can spend the morning visiting Sevanavank Monastery and enjoying the famous panoramic views over the lake, have lunch at one of the restaurants on the shore and dedicate the afternoon to swimming and water activities.
It is also a convenient option for families. While children enjoy the water park, adults can relax and appreciate the spectacular scenery of Lake Sevan and the surrounding mountains.
There is one important thing to remember: Lake Sevan lies at an altitude of approximately 1,900 metres above sea level. Even in summer, temperatures here are noticeably cooler than in Yerevan. For a day at the water park, choose a warm, sunny and preferably windless day.
Best for: families with children, groups of friends and travellers planning a full day at Lake Sevan.
Main advantage: combining a water park with a day on the shores of Lake Sevan.
Best time to visit: July and August.

📍 Arzni, Kotayk Province
Getap Resort is an interesting option for travellers who would like to combine water activities with a relaxing day outside Yerevan.
The resort is located in Arzni, approximately 16 kilometres from the Armenian capital, so it can usually be reached in around half an hour depending on traffic. Despite its proximity to Yerevan, the atmosphere is completely different, with greenery and a more relaxed countryside setting.
Getap has several swimming pools, including seasonal outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool. During summer, the water recreation area and slides make the complex particularly attractive for families with children.
Unlike Water World, Getap is better described as a countryside family resort with water park facilities rather than a traditional standalone water park. It makes sense to come here for a substantial part of the day and combine swimming and slides with relaxation in a greener environment.
For families looking for an easy escape from Yerevan, it is one of the more interesting options nearby.
Best for: families with children and travellers who prefer a countryside setting.
Main advantage: swimming pools and water activities combined with nature and easy access from Yerevan.
Travel-Armenia tip: check that the seasonal outdoor water slides are operating before travelling, as some facilities may only be available during the summer season.
📍 Yerevan, 40 Myasnikyan Avenue
Aquatek offers a very different type of water experience and is particularly useful for families visiting Armenia outside the main summer season.
Its main advantage is its indoor water area, which includes a family swimming pool, Jacuzzi and water slides. The complex also combines spa, fitness and sports facilities.
Because it is indoors, Aquatek can be visited throughout much of the year. This makes it particularly convenient for families travelling to Armenia in spring, autumn or winter, when outdoor water parks and swimming pools are closed.
Aquatek is also worth considering during the hottest summer days if you would rather avoid spending several hours under the strong Armenian sun.
Another advantage is its location in Yerevan, making it easy to incorporate into almost any family itinerary.
Best for: families with children and travellers visiting Armenia at different times of the year.
Main advantage: indoor facilities and less dependence on the summer season and weather.

The best option depends on the type of experience you are looking for.
For a classic outdoor water park with swimming pools and water slides, choose Water World in Yerevan.
If you want to combine water activities with a visit to Lake Sevan, Harsnaqar Water World is the most interesting option.
For families visiting Armenia outside the summer season, the indoor Aquatek is the most convenient choice.
And if you prefer a countryside setting close to Yerevan, consider spending the day at Getap Resort in Arzni.
A day at a water park can be a great addition to a family holiday in Armenia.
The country is rich in historical and cultural attractions, but even the most curious young travellers can become tired after several days of monasteries, museums and road trips.
If you are planning to spend 7–10 days in Armenia with children, consider leaving at least one relaxed day for a water park, swimming pool or Lake Sevan.
This creates a much more balanced itinerary: parents have enough time to discover Armenia’s history, culture, cuisine and landscapes, while children get a day dedicated almost entirely to fun.
The main season for outdoor water parks and swimming pools in Armenia runs from June through August. Depending on the weather, some outdoor facilities may continue operating into early September.
July and August are generally the hottest months in Yerevan, making a day by the pool particularly appealing.
The Armenian summer sun can be strong, so families should bring sunscreen, hats and plenty of drinking water. Taking regular breaks in the shade is also advisable, especially for younger children.
For Lake Sevan, choose a warm and preferably windless day. Due to the lake’s high altitude, the weather can be significantly cooler than in Yerevan.
If you are travelling during the cooler months, an indoor complex such as Aquatek is the better choice.
If you are not particularly interested in water slides and are simply looking for a stylish place to relax by a swimming pool, there are many more options in and around Yerevan.
In recent years, several modern outdoor swimming pools and pool clubs have become popular around the Armenian capital. These places focus less on children’s attractions and more on comfortable sunbathing areas, music, restaurants and a relaxed summer atmosphere.
Places such as Poseidon Aquastage, Jellyfish and The Pool belong to this category.

Water parks are not the only way to enjoy the water during an Armenian summer.
At Lake Sevan, you can spend the day on the beach, try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), take a boat trip or enjoy various seasonal water activities.
Travellers looking for more adventure can try rafting or explore some of Armenia’s beautiful mountain lakes. There are also numerous countryside hotels and resorts with outdoor swimming pools in Arzni, Aghveran and other resort areas within easy reach of Yerevan.
This makes it easy to include a relaxing day by the water in almost any summer itinerary in Armenia.
Armenia is best known for its mountains, ancient monasteries, wineries, national cuisine and famous hospitality. But a modern trip around the country does not have to consist entirely of sightseeing.
