The first half marathon was held in Yerevan

On October 4 the first half-marathon was held in the capital of Armenia. The event is really historical. A lot of guests from all over the world came to the capital of Armenia to participate in this sporting event. The objectives of this event are very different. This is the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the popularization of running for long distances, as well as the creation of an international annual competition, which in turn will give impetus to the development of sports tourism in Armenia. In addition to attract representatives of our Diaspora to Armenia, to strengthen their ties with the historical homeland.

In the half marathon program there were 4 distances: 21.1 km, 10 km, 2.1 km and a children’s 1 km race. The start of the marathon was given on Shahumyan Square and passed along the picturesque streets past the historical sights of the capital. Winners and prize-winners of races on 21,1 km and 10 km have received large monetary prizes.
It is noteworthy that the marathon also had charitable purposes. Part of the funds was transferred for the treatment of sick children.
We really hope that every year the number of participants and guests of the Yerevan Half Marathon will grow, and the Marathon itself will become an international event.
