New Direct Flights to Armenia: Wizz Air Connects Yerevan with Basel, Valencia and Varna

Traveling to Armenia from Europe is becoming even easier. Wizz Air has announced a further expansion of its Yerevan network with three new destinations — Basel, Valencia and Varna.

The airline will also base a fourth aircraft at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport in December 2026.

The expansion creates new opportunities not only for Armenian travelers heading to Europe, but also for European visitors planning a trip to Armenia.

Basel – Yerevan Flights from December 18, 2026

The first new destination will be Basel.

Direct flights between Yerevan and Basel are scheduled to begin on December 18, 2026, with three flights per week.

The route is particularly interesting because of Basel’s unique location near the borders of three countries. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves travelers from Switzerland, France and southwestern Germany.

The new connection therefore makes Armenia more accessible to visitors from several European regions at once.

Valencia – Yerevan Flights from December 19

A second new route will connect Armenia with Valencia, Spain.

Flights are scheduled to begin on December 19, 2026, with services operating twice a week.

A direct connection with Spain is particularly interesting for Armenia’s inbound tourism market, making the country easier to reach for independent travelers from Southern Europe without the need to connect through another European city.

Yerevan – Varna Direct Flights Coming in Summer 2027

The third new destination will be Varna, Bulgaria.

The route is scheduled to launch on June 6, 2027, with two flights per week.

The new service will further expand air connectivity between Armenia and Bulgaria and create additional travel opportunities between the two countries.

More Flights to Prague and Memmingen

Wizz Air is also increasing frequencies on some of its existing routes.

From December 17, 2026, flights between Yerevan and Prague will increase to up to five services per week, while flights between Yerevan and Memmingen in Germany will increase to up to four per week.

The additional frequencies will make Armenia more accessible to travelers from Germany, the Czech Republic and neighboring European countries.

Wizz Air Expands Its Presence in Armenia

Wizz Air currently operates 18 routes from Armenia to 12 European countries.

The addition of a fourth aircraft at the airline’s Yerevan base will allow its network to expand to 21 routes.

According to the airline, Wizz Air expects to operate around 500 flights from Yerevan in 2026, carrying approximately 700,000 passengers in Armenia.

Armenia Is Becoming Easier to Reach from Europe

The expansion of direct air connections is good news for Armenia’s inbound tourism industry.

Basel provides convenient access for travelers from Switzerland, France and Germany, Valencia creates a new direct connection with Spain, while Varna will provide another gateway from Bulgaria.

At the same time, additional flights from Prague and Memmingen will make traveling to Armenia easier for visitors from Central Europe.

Armenia is ideal both for a short city break and for a longer journey across the country. From Yerevan, travelers can visit Garni and Geghard, explore Lake Sevan and Dilijan, discover the wineries of Vayots Dzor, hike in the mountains or continue on a longer journey through Lori and Syunik.

With Wizz Air continuing to expand its Yerevan network, Armenia is becoming increasingly connected with Europe — making it easier than ever for travelers to discover the country.
