Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport to Get a New Terminal: $500 Million Investment
Armenia International Airports plans to invest $500 million in the construction of a new terminal at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport over the next 10 years. This was announced by Marcelo Wende, CEO of Armenia International Airports, in an interview with Forbes.
He noted that over the past two years, passenger traffic growth at Yerevan Airport has exceeded expectations, reaching over 5.5 million passengers per year. He noted that the terminal was built to handle 3-4 million passengers per year, so the current capacity is no longer sufficient, making expansion essential.
“The number of boarding gates will increase from 6 to 16. Arrival halls, immigration, and customs areas will be doubled. Modern lounges will be added, parking will be expanded, and passenger transportation will be improved. We are also preparing to introduce automated digital passport exits and a new biometric passport system, which will simplify travel for Armenian citizens, especially to Europe. The new terminal is expected to be one of the most modern airports in the region.
