Jeep tour - 9 days

Description

We invite you to join our spectacular off-road tours through the mountain trails. During these nine days we will visit different corners of Armenia, from Tavush forests to the cliffs of Vayots Dzor, Goris caves and mountain lakes of Geghama Mountains. Will see ancient monasteries and fortresses, stunning mountain lakes and waterfalls which are located high in the mountains, surrounded by wild forests, far from standard routes.

Program

Day 1: Yerevan

  • Arrival to Yerevan
  • Meeting at the airport, hotel accommodation
  • City tour through Yerevan
  • Welcoming dinner
  • Free time

Day 2: Sevan – Dilijan – Gosh Lake – Kirants

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Driving to Tavush region, which has largest forest area. On the way to Tavush we will have a stop near the lake Sevan.
  • We will have an interesting and spectacular jeep tour through Dilijan forests to the lake Gosh and monastery of Kirants, picnic and then overnight stop in the tents

Day 3: Kirants – Lastiver

  • Breakfast in the nature
  • Driving to Yenokavan, where you can try Zipline and a short horseback riding tour if you wish
  • Then we will walk through the gorge to Lastiver and mountain river with waterfalls
  • Lunch – barbeque-party on the river bank
  • Rest
  • Walking back to Yenokavan
  • Will stay in the cottages for the night

Day 4: Noratus – Lake Akna

  • Breakfast
  • We will continue our way to Noratus cemetery of khachkars, where you will see more than 900 khachkars
  • Then we will drive to Geghama mountains, where we will break our camp near lake Akna
  • Will have a rest, then walk through picturesque places of Geghama gorge
  • Will stay in the tents for the night

Day 5: Lake Akna – Petroglyphs – Geghards – Garni – Yerevan

  • Breakfast in fresh air
  • Will continue our tour and observation of Geghama Mountains sights and beauties, will go to the lake Vanki Lich and observe the vishapakars. Vishapakars (dragon stones) are sculptured figures of ancient mythical creatures. Initially they were gods or spirits of waters. They were placed near underground sources of water.
  • On the way we will see petroglyphs left by the ancient human
  • After we will drive down to the village Goght, then to Garni, an ancient monument from the times of paganism and Hellenism. Garni is dedicated to the god of the Sun, Mythra.
  • Then will return to Yerevan

Day 6: Yerevan – Noravank – Areni – Smbataberd – Jermuk

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • Will move to the South of Armenia. First stop will be near the most beautiful monastery, Noravank, which is surrounded by red vertical cliffs.
  • After we will drive to Areni, which is the viticultural center of Armenia
  • We will visit a cave in Areni, which is 6,000 years old. During an expedition there have been found old anforas and a shoe
  • Then we will have a excursion in a winery, wine tasting and village lunch
  • After having lunch we will continue our mountain trail to the fortress Smbataberd, where you can see a view to beautiful mount Teksar
  • Will arrive to Jermuk in the evening

Day 7: Djermuk – Ukhtasar – Carahunge – Tatev

  • Breakfast in a hotel
  • After acquaintance with the beautiful nature of Jermuk we will leave for Syunik region, where few kilometers far from thy city Sisian is located the mountain Ukhtasar. In the foothills of the mountain there is a glacial lake, formed in the crater of extinct volcano.
  • Then we will stop near Zorac Karer (Carahunge) which are also called Armenian Stonehenge
  • After we will drive to Tatev
  • We will get there by the longest aerial tramway in the world which longs above Vorotan Gorge. The maximum height is 320 m.

Day 8: Khndzoresk – Shake Waterfall – Khor Virap – Yerevan

  • After having breakfast we will drive to Old Khndzoresk cave village, where 100 years ago people were still living
  • Our next stop will be near one of the most beautifull waterfall in Armenia, Shake
  • On the way back to Yerevan we will stop near foothills of Ararat to see the monastery of Khor Virap. Khor Virap is known as a jail, where Grigor the Illuminator, the first Catolicos of all Armenians spend 13 years of his life.

Day 9: Yerevan

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • Depending on the flight, we can walk through morning Yerevan and buy souvenirs from Vernisage, famous flea market 
  • On the way to the airport, depending on the time of departure, we can catch up on an excursion to the “Yerevan Brandy Factory”
  • Transfer to the airport
